Christian Guitar & Bass Conference Contents for this page:
The Christian Guitar & Bass Conference Feb. 22-23, 2008 (Fri-Sat) -- The Christian Guitar & Bass Conference in the Bay Area of California. Sponsored by Heartfelt Music Ministry and First Baptist Church of Los Altos, it will feature Brenton Brown (Author of Everlasting God) and Adam Nitti (Bass player for Steven Curtis Chapman) with other highly skilled artists, educators, and worship leaders. It will be held at First Baptist Church in Los Altos:
This conference is tailored especially for Christian guitar and bass players! Do you need a challenging boost musically and spiritually? Come join the fun with others who want to "Sing to the Lord a new song and play skillfully with a shout of joy!" (Psalm 33:3). The Christian Guitar & Bass Conference is geared uniquely to train and motivate Christian guitar and bass players in skill and faith. Among the many advantages of getting a group like this together, some main goals are to equip Christian guitarists and bassists to play more skillfully, challenge them to be more creative and help them apply their Christian faith to music. This will be an excellent opportunity to meet other Christian guitarists and bassists in order to network and share with each other. There will be professional Christian Artists in concert, electives for skill & spiritual enhancement and question/answer sessions with the artists. Anyone who is a Christian, a guitar or bass player and at least 12 years old is invited to attend. The Christian Guitar & Bass Conference began 14 years ago as the Christian Guitarist Conference. Reggie Coates had seen Phil Keaggy in concert and sat three feet in front of him during one of his workshops at the Christian Artists Music Seminars in the Rockies. It was so motivational that Reggie wanted to bring Phil to California to help motivate others (and to get a little more from Phil personally). The first Christian Guitarist Conference was at Mount Hermon's Ponderosa Lodge with 175 guitarists. Phil Keaggy played from 8:00pm to 12:00am, inviting many of the conferees up to play with him. It was so fun! In the following years, we've held the conference in various locations throughout the Bay Area (Castro Valley, San Jose, Santa Cruz), and Sacramento. It was held in Illinois for 9 years straight, once in Los Angeles, North Carolina, and last year in Oregon. We've had a wide variety of artists involved throughout the years. Phil Keaggy has been 9 times. Other guitarists have included Paul Baloche, Lincoln Brewster, Doyle Dykes, Rick Foster, Pete Orta (Petra), Jay Leach, Bob Bennett, Randy Stonehill, Bruce Carrol, John Standefer, Rich Severson, Marc Cooper, Sandy Hoffman and this year Brenton Brown. When we added bass 5 years ago, we've included players such as Norm Stockton, Todd Johnson, Steve Lawson, and this year Adam Nitti and Mark Kenoly. In 2008, Heartfelt Music Ministry is bringing the conference back to the San Francisco Bay Area once again with 13 dynamic instructor/artists to continue the quality training and motivation in order to make you better. "I have been playing guitar professionally and recording for most of my life in several bands and studio work. For several years was a full time guitar teacher, at one point with 60 private students a per week. My Christian music ministry began with The John Fisher Band. During that time I appeared on the second Pam Mark Hall album. I was band director for the Jubilee high school band. Many of its members have gone on to be music ministers and recording artists in gospel music. I also worked Ron Kenoly and played several dates and crusades with him. The Tim Abbott Band was formed to take high energy Christian music to the churches and the world. In 1996 we joined forces with Mark Kenoly, Ron's brother, to form Kingdom Voice. Our Latest CD "Never Had it So Good", with 16 original tracks written by the band. For a number of years I have been working with members of Kingdom voice and others on a Reggae Gospel CD of my original material titled "Outpouring" which was recently released. I also helped one of our friends Avery Stafford on his CD "Undignified" on guitar and production. Currently I lead worship at Creekside Community Church in San Leandro, CA. I am also the music director and assistant pastor at Fresh Anointing Church in Tracy, CA. Mark Kenoly and I are running a Christian music production company called Kingdom Voice Productions.
